Littlers 6-3 quarter-final comeback victory over Humphries was an immediate classic in a Tornado in fourteen 180s.
Humphries had completed his 10-week wait for a Premier League nightly victory by cutting Littler out in a last leg decision in Leeds and opened in fine style with an early break to lead 2-0 then 3-1.

Humphries came close to hitting a 170 checkout, so Littler did it for him, despite still having 204 left!
Wayne Mardle for comment was contrary to what Warrington Ace Littler had done when he set up 34 and said, “Why? Why? Why does it see!? Humphries couldn’t hit 170, so he hits 170. Do you look at this? Do you see? What in earth are we seeing?”
After Littler got a 144 finish to win the seventh leg, Mardle screamed: “I’ve had enough … This is an absolute joke! This is ridiculous. Even they find it fun. They can’t even believe what they’re doing. What’s going on!?”

“There was no one to waive the leader. It went the way for Luke Littler eventually with the help of some wonderful finishing, but Luke Humphries had nine 180s and went down 6-3. I mean, it’s just crazy.
“Littler just requires perfection from himself. His finishing, it was 75 percent. But also big finish. The 144, 127, 180s, the nine-dart attempt. It just lacked a nine-darth!”

Their overall average of 225.97 was just shy for a world record – the second highest ever registered in a TV match.
Only Peter Wright and Adrian Lewis went better and combined to 228.65 in a 2007 Premier League match, where Scottish was an average of 119.50 and Lewis 109.15.
