Brentford has completed the signing of goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool for a first £ 12.5 million.
Performance-related additions could take any fee for £ 18m.
Kelleher, an Ireland International, is someone that Brentford is tracked for a long time.
They were interested before signing Mark Flekken in 2023, but Liverpool has only been open to selling since securing Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia last summer.
Brentford had been exposed to competition from other clubs on Kelleher, including Leeds and West Ham, but Thomas Frank’s side has a strong relationship with Liverpool, after securing Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho from Anfield last summer.
Kelleher, which was set aside 22 times by his country, secured another Premier League title with Reds this season, but started only 10 games when Alisson continued in front of him in the Pecking Order.
The fleet ends the liver kus -movement
Elsewhere, existing bees # 1 flek has completed a step to Bayer Leverkusen.
Leverkusen and Brentford agreed on a fee in the area £ 11m (€ 13m) including additions earlier on Tuesday, which means he will connect with former Manchester United Chief Erik Ten Hag in Germany.
Analysis: Kelleher deserves chance of shining
Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz:
Although he was Alisson’s No. 2 at Anfield, Kelleher played his role in Liverpool’s title success. He contained 10 times in the Premier League as he covered the Brazilian through injury and inaccessibility.
And Kelleher worked very well and ended in the top dozen goalies for savings percentage and passes completed, which is what a Brentford goalkeeper needs to do a great deal of.
That’s because the fleet – whom Kelleher wants to replace as bees’ # 1 – finished top of all Premier League targets in these two measurements. Brentford allows lots of shots on target while also playing a mixture of smart directly long balls or risky passing their backs to absorb pressure.
Then Kelleher, who ends number two to the fleet in the passport trial per. 90 last season, is a positive sign.
With Countryman Nathan Collins and former Liverpool defender Van the Berg important parts of the Brentford defense feel as a suitable step for both goalkeeper and his new club.
