AI and digital skills are important to the workforce today and the future. Still, almost 70% of university educators say they need more education in how to use new technologies, and a majority of employers believe that job candidates and employees should have basic knowledge of generative AI tools.
With this in mind, we are launching a new partnership with the University of Michigan to give access to Google’s AI training courses and Google career certificates for students across all their campuses at no cost.
Expanding access to abilities for in -demand skills
This partnership provides Google career certificates at no cost to more than 66,000 students from the University of Michigan through Michigan Online, the university’s platform for digital learning opportunities. Students have access to industry-recognized credentials in high demand fields, including cyber security, data analysis, digital marketing and e-commerce, IT support, UX design and project management.
Students will also receive access to Google AI Essentials and Google asking for Essentials. These courses teach basic AI skills, best practices and how to use AI responsible – critical for today’s rapidly developing job market. As an employer in Michigan with an office in Ann Arbor for almost two decades, we are happy to work with the University of Michigan to enable his students to pursue their careers with the skills that employers are looking for who will help them succeed. These workouts will supplement access to the UM Faculty, and students already need AI tools such as Gemini and Notebooklm.
Building our partnership with Center for Academic Innovation
This initiative is based on our previous collaboration with the Center for Academic Innovation, which created “Data Analytics in the public sector with R,” a specialized course series developed by the University of Michigan faculty to supplement Google’s data analysis certificate. This course series gives students used data analysis skills that are specifically relevant to careers in the public sector.
Students who finish Google career certificates have access to our employer consortium with more than 150 large national employers interested in hiring our certificate educators for relevant roles; Including Michigan-based employers such as Ford, rocket companies and of course Google. More than 1 million people have graduated from the Google Career Certificate program globally, and 70%+ of certificate trained reports a positive career result (eg new job, promo or increase) within six months of completion.
Students from the University of Michigan can access these options by visiting Michigan online and signing up for their university information.
