Whether you go into the workforce for the first time or want to change fields, it is really important to get up -to -date job skills. That is why we are pleased to join forces with the University System of Maryland (USM) to help more Marylanders get the job -ready skills they need to succeed. Through this new partnership, we bring Google Career Certificates and AI training to all 12 USM campuses, creating more accessible and flexible roads to growing career areas.
From the University of Maryland, College Park to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, the USM’s reach allows us to support students from a wide range of communities. Now, students throughout the state can build practical skills for today’s most sought -after job.
Our collaboration offers:
- Job-ready training: With Google career certificates, students can prepare for careers in cyber security, data analysis, project management and more in less than six months without any prior experience.
- Basic AI skills: The AI ​​Essentials course will help students apply artificial intelligence in practical ways while learning about responsible AI practice.
- Accelerates AI in Education: Google.org provides funding for USMS new AI in the Education Center, which will explore how AI can improve learning for all students.
- Credit for your work: To help students get a head start at their degrees, more USM campuses will offer academic credit to conduct Google career certificates. E.g. Offers the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) up to 10 credits, which helps students save time and money when working towards their degree and their next job.
- AI tools: Cross -System institutions have the opportunity to access Google’s latest AI tools, such as the University of Maryland, College Park and University of Maryland, Baltimore County, which already gives access to Gemini to students and faculty.
Extension of support to students who have earned
This partnership also creates new opportunities for Maryland’s major military communities. USM institutions earn thousands of military students each year with six campuses ranked among the best for veterinarians and UMGC-AS earning over 60,000 military connected pupil-ranking # 1 for primarily online universities. This initiative provides flexible, skill -based training to help translate their valuable service experience into credentials for their next chapter.
To elaborate on our support for students veterans nationwide, Google.org also supports Student Veterans of America (SVA) by $ 4 million. This funding will help veterans across the country, including in Maryland, access Google career certificates and AI training. It will also support SVA’s critical work to improve the ways, universities serve students veterans and provide direct career programming to more than 15,000 transitional members.
Connecting Skills for Opportunity
Our goal is to help people not just learn new skills but land good jobs. Candidates in the Google Career Certificate program get access to job search resources including an employer consortium of more than 150 companies – including Booz Allen Hamilton, Siemens and Google – looking for skilled talent.
Globally, more than a million people have completed a Google career certificate, and over 70% report a positive career outcome such as a new job, raising or promotion within six months.
