Chelsea Women: How does Arsenal catch, man utd, man city and others the domestic treble winners? | Football News

Chelsea Women claimed another treble on Sunday, adding Women’s FA Cup to their WSL and Women’s League Cup titles.

Blues also went the entire domestic season undefeated and has not lost since May 1, 2024, when Emma Hayes – prematurely, as it turned out – admitted the league title to Manchester City Women after a 4-3 defeat for Liverpool Women.

The sight of another trophy lift will have been an annoying to not only Marc Skinner’s Manchester United women – beating 3-0 at Wembley – but also as Arsenal Women and Man City.

All three have chased Chelsea in the WSL tale race in recent years and sometimes beaten them in the cup competitions. But blues continue to prove that they are the dominant power of English woman’s football, even after a change of head coach.

And we find ourselves again asking the question – how does anyone catch any chelsea on the domestic front?

Invest and strength

The clearest and most obvious response. With significant investments, Chelsea has built a team that can compete on multiple fronts.

In fact, the Blues WSL title won with a huge 12 points – their biggest winning margin in the league. Last year, they won it on target difference, where only a few points had previously separated the top two sides.

And just a few days ago, Reddit bought Alexis Ohanian a 10 percent share in the club for a reported £ 20m, which also gives him a place on the club’s board. Their success makes them an attractive view.

This does not mean that other clubs have not added quality. Mariona Caldenty has improved Arsenal, while a number of Man UTD’s summer signings have been regular starters this season. Man City also added even if they have struggled with injuries.

But last summer, Chelsea signed Lucy Bronze and Sandy Baltimore. In January, Kiera Walsh and Naomi Girma – the first female player arrived for over $ 1M -. They are players simply a level over most of those who join the clubs around them signing for big money.

So if other teams want to attract a similar level of players, they need resources from their hierarchies to be able to.

The FA Cup final participated in some of Man UTD’s senior employees, including Omar Berrada and Glazers, but Sir Jim Ratcliffe remained noticeably absent when he was last year’s victorious final.

After the game, Skinner said he feels supported by the club, but the differences between himself and Chelsea were clear.

“It’s not whether you’re visible, but as long as our club and team are invested in, it’s also a way to show your support,” he said.

“I feel the support and we have to show it the right way in the summer so that we can close this gap.

“I love my team, I love their energy and we have a lot of young players but if you see it [the final]You see the difference.

“Just look at the substitutes, and I don’t mean that against ours but it’s a completely different experience. We need that level of experience and quality to really make a difference

Chelsea Main coach Sonia Bompastor believes the club’s new investment from Alexis Ohanian will be ‘gaming shifting’ for women’s football

“If you saw me at the end, I stare out into the room because I think about how I can close that gap. I don’t want the economy that Arsenal or Manchester City might be.

“We use much open less than Chelsea … The reality is that it is the investment in the team that needs to happen.”

It’s something Chelsea -Head coach Sonia Bompastor is also eager to see in England – having better teams only pushing her even more.

“It’s important for most of the teams to invest in the women’s grass because I think if you have more competition, you’re able to get better,” she said after winning the FA Cup.

“This is what we want and what we need to be an even better team. We want to be at the top of the league and bring everyone with us. This is what we want to achieve, but we need the other teams to still invest and come with us.”

Identification of experience as well as quality

One of Man Utd’s downfall in the FA Cup final was mistakes that allowed Chelsea to score two late goals. It highlighted Blues relentlessness and a touch of naivety in the young side of Skinner.

And while talented players are important, it is not always translated into another league. However, experience at the highest level can be crucial and that balancing these two aspects is crucial.

Skinner explained: “Emma’s heritage was to build a robust team that can take responsibility in the great moments because they are used to them. That’s what we don’t have.

“It’s something if I want to bridge a hole, it can be a way we do it is to buy the kind of people who have been and won it and also put them in our team.”

How WSL -team qualifies for Women’s Champions League

  • First place – right into the league
  • Second Place-Three Qualification Round, Game as two-legged Play-off
  • Third – second qualifying round, played as a mini tournament
  • The winner of the Champions League also qualifies for the league

Experience is not only important for domestic fronts, as UTD and Arsenal also have the Champions League football to contend with next season.

Before they even reach the league, there will be qualifying rounds to contend with, although Gunners can bypass this if they win the Champions League themselves. But you will definitely meet up to four extra games and add their workload.

“The Champions League will add more burden to the troop because you want a higher profile game mid -week, and then potentially Chelsea this weekend,” rails added.

“We have to get the right depth. If we don’t, then you fight. You’ve seen Manchester City this year when they get injuries because they extend to the point they dip then. Arsenal were the same year before.

“Chelsea is probably the only team that has invested in the troop enough for them to have that depth and be able to cover these mid -week for weekend games. That will be the challenge for us.”

Working with current players

While investment is key, it is impossible – and unwilling – to change an entire team, especially when they still have high quality players.

There must also be a focus on coaching and mentality, and which shines expresses it, ‘maximizes’ the talent they already have – to find the extra one or two per day. Cents that can make all the difference.

Chelsea is used to the finals every season and winning matches in the tightest moments. The more other teams around them compete on the same fronts, the easier they will be able to navigate the same situations in the future.

“I have to find Manchester United’s way in the summer,” Skinner said. “We have to maximize what we have. Our players have to get back installers, stronger, more aggressive. We need to concentrate more and control the controls.

“I don’t want to rest during the summer. I have to find a way we can close the different type of hole. I have to find small excerpts here and there that can make us better.

“Chelsea was better than us physical [in the final]And that’s something I have to look at too.

“I want to look at specifically where I think players are ready for where some may need to move on, some may have to stay and who would grow. I need a place now to do so.”

For all their ‘invincible’ results, their team depth and quality, there is a trophy that still avoids Chelsea – Women’s Champions League.

It’s the only blip on an otherwise perfect season. It is also undoubtedly what holds Chelsea back from being considered one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

In fact, Arsenal WSLS remains the most successful team on the continent. They have reached their second Champions League final with Barcelona in Lisbon on May 25 – one more than Chelsea. Gunners remains the only English team to have won the competition.

Chelsea’s lack of success in the Champions League is also obviously on the mind of Bompastor.

“It feels really good to be dominant in England, but we didn’t win the Champions League. Our goal and ambition is to make sure we compete against the best teams in Europe. Barcelona with certainty, but also teams like Lyon,” she said.

The other half of Blues’ season did not see their best performances, but they gave results, especially domestic. But it also demonstrated that Chelsea with a few adjustments could be benefited from.

Skinner added: “In play this year you could have got Chelsea. I don’t think most teams in the league have maximized it, so let’s see.”

Obviously, few teams will be able to compete with blues financially, at least in the foreseeable future. While investments are still key, there are still other ways to improve in an attempt to match Chelsea.

While acting as a scary view, nothing is infallible. But it will be a big summer for many of these teams that seem to improve again in a quote for silverware.
