Ruben Amorim addressed Alejandro Garnacho’s future with the Manchester United winger subject to continued interest from Chelsea in the January transfer window.

Garnacho played the full 90 minutes of Man Utd’s late 2-1 win over Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday and was one of their brightest performers as one of five changes from Sunday’s miserable defeat by Brighton.

After the game, Amorim was not drawn one way or the other on whether Garnacho will remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of this month, but praised his improvement when he dropped the wing for a poor performance ahead of the Manchester Derby just over a month ago.

“He plays for Manchester United,” he said when asked if he might have played his last game for the club. “He was really important for us today. Let’s see in the next few days.

“I think he’s improving in every aspect of the game. He was better today playing inside and also outside and switching positions. He’s improving the recovery position. You can see it.

“For the whole 90 minutes he’s always there recovering and helping. Sometimes it’s really good to show some frustration because he wants more.”

Amorim also challenged the 20-year-old to improve, adding: “I think he has the potential to be so much better in every situation in the game.

“What I can say is that he understood what I was trying to do and was really ready. I just want to help him. At the end of the day it’s the players who do the job.”

Chelsea Consider Garnacho Move – But No Offer Made

Garnacho is a player Chelsea have watched closely – and a move is possible during this window or in the summer.
