Bitcoin spokesman and investor Anthony Pompliano joined forces with Bo Hines, CEO of President Donald Trump’s advisory advisers for digital assets, in a headline in the White House that offered the most detailed look yet on the administration’s ambitious plans for a US strategic Bitcoin reserve.
The conversation affected a wide range of political priorities – from stableecoin regulation and interagency cooperation to customs, law enforcement and regulatory developments – but a focal point for the conversation was the administration’s intention of aggressively accumulated Bitcoin without increasing the burden of taxpayers.
“We have obviously made it very clear that we want to acquire as much as we can get,” Hines told Pompliano. “I have said it repeatedly throughout my time on the speech circle over the past few months … It decides that we have to acquire Bitcoin in budget neutral ways that do not cost the taxpayer a crown.”
One of the most conspicuous proposals involves using revenue from tariff rates to financing Bitcoin purchases, which was interesting in view of the recent global trade war on tariffs and a recent economic projection in the White House that “a global duty of 10% would grow the economy by $ 728 billion.”
“I think we have, as the president likes to say,” many high IQ people “working on these solutions,” added Hines. “We come together and hand out some of these ideas and really come to the best solution.”
Hines also approached Senator Cynthia Lummis’ proposed Bitcoin Act from 2025, which calls on the United States to acquire 200,000 BTC annually for five years and build a million-bitcoin reserve.
“I think Senator Lummis really has an interesting idea with the Bitcoin Act,” Hines said. “Here what you would do is – you are revaluing the gold certificates that we currently have on Treasury … Most where I think are appreciated about $ 43 per ounce … Now we sit on what, $ 3,100 per ounce … and if you took that value what you could do is use the extra financing to buy more Bitcoin.”
As Hines emphasized, “There are literally countless ways we can do this … Everything is on the table and as we have said, we want so much we can get.”
After the interview, Pompliano released a video to his X account that shared its top ten most important takeaways from his interview with Hines, which can be found below, and the full interview can be found here on Pompliano’s YouTube channel here.
