Rory McIlroy produced a fantastic back-ni scoring Burst to start a winning start to his PGA Tour season with an impressive two-shot victory on AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
McIlroy went into the last round a shot behind Ryder Cup teammate Sepp Straka and was tied to the lead by turns, only to pull free of an overloaded leaderboard with a fantastic start to the back nine.
The Northern Irish played a six-hole stretch in five under-inclusive a brilliant eagle on par-five 14-to open a four-stroke advantage, then closed a six under 66 to finish 21 under and demand a 27. PGA Tour Victory.
McIlroy’s winning margin was reduced by Shane Lowry’s fast finish, with five birdies in the last eight holes that helped him solo the other, while Justin Rose’s amazing final-hole Eagle lifted him to tie thirds with Lucas Glover.
Tom Kim – who held part of the lead for a large part of the last day – fell back into the bound seventh with Straka, with the world # 1 Scottie Scheffler, who marked his return from damage by demanding a proportion of ninth place.

McIlroy proud of victory in the historic place
McIlroy’s Victory is his first in California since the WGC game game in 2015, with the 35-year-old now having at least one PGA Tour victory in each of the last eight seasons.
“Some people would argue that the golf courses I’ve won on are not up to a pebble beach or an Augusta, but winning at one of the golf cathedrals is really, really cool,” McIlroy told CBS.
“I knew that today was going to be tough, it would be exciting, there were so many guys around the lead, and I guess it was Pebble Beach, I had to put it on the back of my mind and Go out there and try to shoot a score that I was able to.
“I said to Harry (Diamond, Hans Caddy) who went up the last, start that you mean to continue. I’m just as defining this year in one of the years I’ve been here on the PGA tour and for Getting this victory so early means a lot and hopefully just keeping the momentum in Torrey Pines in a few weeks.
