The annual Bitcoin conference in Las Vegas is an important event for the Bitcoin ecosystem, where companies reveal breakthroughs, advertise partnerships and give speeches that shape the story of digital assets. For many, the large amount of information can be overwhelming. After participating in several conferences and being familiar with the participating companies through my work at UTXO, I have highlighted key panels and expected developments for 2025 focusing on Bitcoin’s Layer 2 (L2) and BTCFI ecosystems.
The full agenda is available using this link: https://b.tc/conference/2025/agenda
Here is A collapse of expected messages and panels, categorized by key themes:
BitVM2 messages
Since BitVM’s introduction in 2023, the top Bitcoin development teams have worked tirelessly to transform centralized sidekin -design into genuine Bitcoin -rollups and permitted L2s. At the 2025 conference, you can expect these teams to reveal the first versions of BitVM2 Bridges, giving critical details of their mechanics. When it was live, BitVM2 -bridges could unlock a wide range of decentralized BTC use cases available to all Bitcoin holders. May 2025 may mark a turning point that potentially signal the decline of centralized “crypto” and defi-projects in favor of a Bitcoin-Inborn economy. As it is said, on a long enough timeline, everything comes back to Bitcoin.
L2 Partnerships
Bitcoin L2S faces a steep challenge: competing with established crypto player while serving Bitcoiner’s confidence. The conference is likely to include large partnership messages, especially at the infrastructure level, which addresses many years of barriers to BTCFI rehearsal. These collaborations could strengthen the credibility and functionality of L2 solutions and pave the way for wider acceptance.
Lightning and Taproot -Assets Innovation
The recent announcement that Tether (USDT) returns to Bitcoin by issuing his stablecoin on Lightning Rails via Taproot assets has given rise to significant tension. Expect major updates from companies in this room, especially in terms of taproot assets and stableecoin integration. The lightning network is ready for dominance, and 2025 can be the year it breaks into mainstream.
Opcoded and government discussions
With growing support for covenant activation on Bitcoin and recent debates on Mempool policy on social media, government discussions will be a rallying point. These panels promise to be intellectually stimulating and offer deep insight into Bitcoin’s core mechanics and potential fireworks for those who follow the debates. Participating in these sessions is likely to be the most rewarding experience of the week for anyone seeking to understand Bitcoin’s future.
Shell-divided panels
Below is a curated list of panels that are in line with the above categories, along with my expectations for each. (Note: These predictions reflect my personal perspective and are not definitive. This list is not exhaustive but highlights high signal sessions for participants with limited time.)
